Precise shower profile fitting in the recess
In a residential new build in the town of Wesseling in North Rhine Westphalia, the main focus was on high-quality furnishings and a speedy construction process. The recessed and flush to the wall drainage solution TECEdrainprofile was installed here in the threshold-free bathrooms.
The new build consists of nine residential units in total. In order to maximise use of the floor space as much as possible, the seven square metre bathrooms were arranged in an L scape. The threshold-free accessible shower areas are located in the bathrooms' alcoves. Continuous, large square tiles were used for the wall and floor design - all the way into the shower.
To avoid breaking up the harmonious aesthetics of the joint work, a practical drainage solution was used on this construction project that is especially suitable for use in alcoves. The length-adjustable TECEdrainprofile shower profile enabled the easy creation of pipe drainage over the entire width of the shower area - despite the width of 97 centimetres, which isn't catered for by any of the standard lengths. The originally 100 centimetre long profile rail made of polished stainless steel was cut to length on site using an angle grinder and precisely adjusted to fit the shower area. Thanks to the easy recessed and flush to the wall mounting, no time-intensive delicate work was required to fill the areas around the drainage with suitable pieces of tiling. The stainless steel rail is just 55 mm wide and doesn't negatively impact the high-quality look of the large format tiles.
The idea to install TECEdrainprofile here came from Marco Beier, managing direction of the performing sanitary specialist company, who learned about the benefits of the product during a seminar arranged by TECE and held at a local wholesaler: "I was convinced by the simple assembly and the appealing look of the profile. The product is practically tailor-made for an installation situation like this". The client liked Marco Beier's suggestion and so TECEdrainprofile was used in all of the bathrooms in this new build. Another advantage which sped up the assembly work and provided added reliability during sealing is the flexible Seal System sealing sleeve. The sleeve clicks right into the drain and is then integrated into the surface sealing.
The tenants also benefit from the uncomplicated drainage solution: the shower profile made of hygienic stainless steel features an inner gradient that optimises water drainage and the self-cleaning effect, thus ensuring the cleaning effort required of the user remains reasonable. Other shower channels require you to remove the grate, which usually requires tools - but not in this case. To clean the drain, the profile lid can be folded up without tools thanks to the "push function" and removed by hand - the drain is then easy to access for cleaning.
The bathrooms are situated directly next to the guest toilets. The supply pipes and the modules for the toilets and washstands in both rooms were fitted in a single wall here, which was constructed using the TECEprofil dry-wall construction system. With this easy to assemble system, which comprises just three basic components, the room divider walls were erected quickly, stably and reliably.
