The Ilisian – New perspectives on a famous building
Historic landmark turns into modern hotel and urban quarter
One of Athens’ most famous buildings is taking on a new identity with The Ilisian. Following extensive regeneration, the former Hilton Athens has been transformed into a high-end urban quarter featuring the new Conrad Athens Hotel, exclusive residences, dining venues and retail spaces. The architectural character of this landmark building has been preserved and combined with contemporary design and state-of-the-art building technology. The project thus brings together history and the present day, establishing itself as a new meeting place for guests and locals alike.
In total, the hotel comprises 278 rooms and suites, as well as exclusive Conrad and Waldorf Astoria residences. Several restaurants and bars, spacious event venues and an extensive pool and wellness area make The Ilisian a versatile venue for relaxation, socialising and events. At the heart of the project is the careful transformation of the historic building, whose striking marble façade continues to characterise the cityscape. Behind the historic façade, a modern hotel has been created that preserves the architectural character of the existing structure whilst offering contemporary comfort as well as meeting the highest standards of design and functionality.
Hidden technology for the most sophisticated designs
Particularly in the construction of premium hotels, technology and design must work together seamlessly. Therefore, at The Ilisian numerous system solutions from TECE ensure reliable sanitary technology behind the wall, whilst visible components blend harmoniously into the high-quality interior design.
TECEprofil toilet modules with the Octa II cistern are used as the installation system for pre-wall technology. They enable flexible and efficient implementation of the sanitary installation whilst also laying the foundations for precise and cost-effective construction. For the toilet installations, TECEneo shower toilets for hot and cold water were used in combination with TECEsquare metal flush plates in brushed black chrome. The minimalist design of the flush plates blends seamlessly into the bathrooms’ elegant design concept and emphasises the hotel’s sophisticated character.
Technology that stands the test of time
In addition to the design, long-term operational reliability played a particularly crucial role. Hotels place high demands on sanitary systems: they must function reliably, be easy to maintain and ensure consistently high quality even under intensive use.
The TECE products used have resulted in an installation solution that combines technical reliability with high-quality design. In doing so, TECE helps to ensure that guests enjoy the highest level of comfort and that hotel operators benefit in the long term from a cost-effective and durable installation.
