From industrial district to Barcelona's vibrant cultural centre

More than 150 years ago, during the Industrial Revolution, the streets of Poblenou looked very different from today. At that time, the district was the epicentre of Catalan industry and was regularly referred to as the Manchester of Catalonia. Factories stood side by side, and in between them lived the people who operated the restless machines day in and day out. Today, traditional buildings, old factory halls, modern and postmodern works of art and contemporary office buildings line the streets of Poblenous. The former working-class neighbourhood has now been transformed into the hottest meeting place for Barcelona's creative and artistic scene. Artists and young minds from the creative industry meet in trendy cafés, galleries and boutiques In the evening, residents are drawn to the miles of beaches that border the district, the diverse restaurants and bars, and, later in the evening, the nationally renowned Club Razzmatazz. In the midst of this lively and inspiring atmosphere, the impressive Hoxton, Poblenou has been welcoming guests from all over the world since spring 2022.

Inspired by a Catalan architectural icon

As with all Hoxton locations, the interior design of this sought-after hotel is inspired by the soul of the surrounding streets and people. From the interior to the room keys, artistic details lovingly crafted by local artists and producers can be found everywhere. The design was significantly influenced by Ricardo Bofill, an extraordinary visionary who was considered an icon of southern European architecture during his lifetime. Known for his daring designs, which testify to his profound understanding of the interplay between geometric forms and expressive colour schemes, the Catalan-born architect shaped the cityscapes of Paris, Barcelona and Casablanca, among others. The influences of his work and his hometown are also omnipresent at the Hoxton: from the graphic façade to the spacious yet cosy rooms, the spectacular, spacious lobby and the charming bodega on the ground floor. After a long day of discovery, guests can indulge in regional delicacies at the in-house restaurant Four Corners or enjoy tacos and refreshing drinks on the roof terrace with a view of the Sagrada Família and their feet in the pool.

Well thought-out sanitary solutions and understated elegance

Quality was also a top priority in the bathrooms: those responsible for furnishing the Hoxton, Poblenou opted for proven sanitary technology and elegant flush plates from TECE. The classic, linear TECEnow models were used, along with practical toilet modules with integrated cisterns – attractive, functional and durable. The compact TECEbase toilet module pre-wall elements have integrated cisterns and are particularly easy and quick to install. The factory-preassembled, sealed cistern provided reliable protection against dirt during the shell construction phase and was ready for connection immediately. A well-designed installation tunnel with integrated shell protection also made it much easier to connect the TECE WC flush plates. After tiling, the excess part of the tunnel could be removed without tools and with a simple ‘zip’. TECE also contributes to the stylish ambience of the hotel: the stylish TECEnow flush plates fit perfectly with the high-quality interior design of this iconic accommodation. With their clear, elegant design, they add subtle accents and harmoniously round off the high-quality appearance of the bathrooms.
